The Death of Perception

Updated! I had the numbers wrong. This is the data from http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL32492.pdf Today it seems, what we know is what we are told by our professors and the various media we consume, News, Movies, Music etc. Folks would have you perceive the world in a way that is some what off the mark as far as reality is concerned.

Monster

When our nation trains its military, it is normal and expected that we do not wear kid gloves. I was subjected to some rather intense procedures of physical and mental training as are all Marines. It is necessary to use hard methods to train hard individuals to do hard things. I am not complaining; I consciously signed up for the deal. But imagine for a moment if you were a young lad of thirteen and out of the blue you have a Commissioned Officer holding the field grade rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army berating you, making false accusation about you, calling you a liar and threatening you with physical assault.

The following I relate to you for the purpose of reporting the events as they happened as there seems to be no place to file a report.

On Dec.10 2007, Assistant Principal Susan Carpenter at League City Intermediate called me at my place of business and asked that I call back at my earliest convenience. Before I could return her call, the school’s nurse, Ms. Mary Ponder, called me. Ms. Ponder informed me that my son, Race West, was complaining of chest pains. She proceeded to take his vitals and found that all was well except for a slightly elevated heart rate. I then questioned her as to why Assistant Principle Carpenter had called me earlier and if the two calls were related, she said ‘she didn’t know’ and asked if I wanted to speak to my son directly. I asked my son what the Assistant Principle wanted and he then related a quick tale of horror.

He mentioned that the ROTC instructor at his school had accused him of prank calling over the weekend; it was upon this accusation when Race proclaimed his innocence and was then called a liar by the ROTC instructor. When Race continued to protest to the now multiple accusations, he raised his finger to give emphasis on his veracity; the Good Lt. Colonel Hudson (U.S. Army) then said that he would break Race’s finger for pointing it.

Needless to say, it was at this point in my son’s story when I became enraged. I told Race to put me back on with the Nurse so she could transfer me to this “man among boys” However, I had to leave a message with a secretary for him instead.

But I never received a call from the coward. Instead, I got a call from the principal, Mrs. Kimberly Brouillard. Mrs. Brouillard informed me that she was accompanied by Officer (Mac) Macintosh, ‘the cop to the school’ and Lt. Col Hudson (U.S. Army), ROTC instructor for the school, and ask permission to put me on speakerphone; I agreed. Lt Col. Hudson (U.S. Army) began telling me his version of the events and said that he was sorry for saying that he would break my son’s finger. I told him that his conduct was “unsatisfactory and that when you threaten my child with bodily injury, I would come up there and whip your ass!”

When I returned home that evening, I asked Race to relay yet again what had happen and while my wife transcribed. There was one thing that Lt Col. Hudson (U.S. Army) left out of his statement his words were something to the effect of snapping my son’s neck.

When a field grade officer of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army threatens a powerless 7th grader that is not even a student under his charge with grievous bodily injury, it can rightly be compared to Abu Ghraib. Except this is worse because not only is my son not a prisoner, but Lt. Col. Hudson (U.S. Army) holds such an exalted office of trust and confidence that is not to be taken lightly. Certainly this is not representative of the U.S. Army’s Officer Corps. This is not the conduct of an officer and a gentleman.

The fact that a man wearing the same uniform that Alvin York and Audie Murphy wore is abusing his rank and position by terrorizing a 7th grader who is not even in ROTC is beyond the pale. This uniform that he disgraces has typically been worn by men that lift the weight of tyranny.

‘Conduct unbecoming,’ I guess, is one way to describe terrorizing a defenseless lad. But to whom can one report this? On December 11th, I attempted to make a report of this incident to the League City Police Department and they said it was outside of their jurisdiction. I was informed that I had to make my report to the liaison officer to the school (Macintosh) but when I asked Officer Macintosh if he had made a report of the previous day’s events, he said he had not. I told him I wanted to file a report. His response to my request was that if I filed a report, Lt. Col. Hudson (U.S. Army) would file suit against me for my remarks. This leads me to think that they had been in league formulating Lt. Col. Hudson’s (U.S. Army) options. So I can’t file my report with the Sheriff’s Deputy Macintosh as he would be a witness against me and most certainly hostile to my case.

What is truly amazing is that their two brains even working in concert can’t see the irrationality of their equating what I said to an adult whom threatened my son to a commissioned Officer in the United States Army wantonly and consciously threatening a helpless child.

As you can see, this chain of events has left my son in a position that he cannot go to school for fear of one Lt. Col. Hudson (U.S. Army). As it stands, we are going to bring my son’s lessons home so he won’t fall behind in his studies.

I would hope the CCISD school board would remove this abusive individual from campus and
I would expect the U.S. Army to take the necessary steps to relieve Lt. Col. Hudson’s (U.S. Army) from having command over children. The Army should decide if his conduct meets their standards as outlined in Articles 133 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

133: Conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman is an offense subject to court martial defined in the punitive code of the United States Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

The elements are as follows:

“That the accused did or omitted to do certain acts; and
That, in the circumstances, these acts or omissions constituted conduct unbecoming an officer and gentleman.[1]
Here “gentleman” is understood to include commissioned officers, cadets, and midshipmen, and Officer Candidates, of both sexes. A gentleman is understood to have a duty to avoid dishonest acts, displays of indecency, lawlessness, dealing unfairly, in decorum, injustice, or acts of cruelty.”

Sicko Slug

Of all the people on earth to open their pie hole about Health no one lacks credibility more than Michael Moore. I am sure there are plenty of things wrong with the way health care is provided in the U.S.. The #1 thing is we have too much of it. A very small percent of the medical care provided in the U.S. is for Trauma and Infectious Disease. most of the money spent is for maladies that could have been avoided by proper diet, sleep, exercise and safer life style. If you watch any TV you’ see ads for drugs to address every conceivable malady. The irony here is if you where out exercising instead of watching TV you wouldn’t need any of those drugs. Man! talk about targeted marketing! If you sign up for the Michael Moore Diet and Fitness Regimen, you can rest assured that you will need plenty of health care. but you will need very little if you will take matters into your own hands. So firstly, ask yourself if you are doing your part:

  • Do you walk “fast” for 40 – 50 minutes per day?
  • Do you regularly do resistance and stretching exercise?
  • Do you consume sufficient lean protein?
  • Do you enjoy daily servings of healthy fruits and vegetables?
  • Do you eat plenty of olive oil?
  • Do you drink enough water?
  • Do you get 7 to 8 hours of good sleep each night?
  • Do you take lots of Vitamin C, Omega 3 oils, and other vitamins
  • Then ask yourself if you are working to destroy your own health:

  • Do you abuse your body with cookies, donuts, chips, cake, and ice cream?
  • Do you drink soda?
  • Do you smoke, drink booze, or take drugs?
  • Are your food choices loaded with hydrogenated oil and trans-fats?
  • Are fast foods, fried foods, or prepared foods part of your regular menu?
  • Do you eat high-glycemic foods like rice and potatoes, or white flour products like bagels and white bread?
  • Do you have unsafe sex?
  • If you are doing the things that are bad for you and at the same time not doing the things that are good for you, you will end up looking a lot like this:sicko slug Micheal Moore

George Bush It’s a Love Hate Thing

Sure, if you are a conservative like me( I consider G Gordon Liddy, Ted Nugent and Pat Buchanan to be moderates), GW is wearing thin. I concur with his stance on terror and tax relief. I’m afraid it is all academic now. Once he gives our country away to illegal aliens that will make all the sacrifices of every solder since the American revolution all for naught. But you do have to give ol’ George some credit. Anyone that can draw the ire of Jimmy Carter must be a saint. Think about it, Carter is a guy that thinks Castro and Chavez are great and benign leaders. He thinks his fellow Nobel prize winner Arafat was a noble peace maker. Carter is just a communist idiot like Michael Moore. Carter said on 05-19-07 that the Bush administration was the worst in history. Worse in what way I ask. I guess it is all relative. From Carter’s perspective, he is right. Carter hates low taxes, low unemployment, low interest rates, low inflation, high personal prosperity, high home-ownership and the DOW above 13000.

Bush has done a much better job at the war on terror, too. He has disrupted terrorists world wide and put them on the run. He has liberated Afghanistan from the Taliban. Women are no longer beaten and beheaded for showing an inch of skin on their wrist. He liberated 25 million Iraqis from Sadam Hussein, a Stalinist dictator who murdered untold tens of thousands of his countrymen . He did all that in 4 years and only had 3500+ KIAs. Shoot, from where I see it, that is remarkable. Let us compare that with the battle for Iwo Jima. Iwo only lasted about 1 month and we lost 6,821 souls. So the next time you hear some Commie bastard talking about casualties, remind them of Iwo. Here is the actual breakdown for that month.

    Draft Fred Thompson

The time has come my friends for our man Fred Thompson to stand and be recognized. It is not often when we get a Gentleman Like Senator Thompson. He is Clean, Bright and articulate. :) He is conservative enough for all the folks that stayed home during the mid-terms. (which was because they felt betrayed by republicans including President Bush on spending, other than money spent building a Mexico fence)
Unlike McCain, he doesn?t rub me the wrong way. I know some of you think of Senator McCain as a war hero and he may be, if you consider getting shot down and failing to evade capture heroic. Hell Jessica lynch could of done that. Oh yeah she did, and I don?t call her a hero. I consider Alvin York a hero. I heard a tale that when Sergeant York was offered all kinds of product endorsement money, he said, ? This uniform ain?t for sale? . Jessica sold her uniform for a million dollar book deal. I wonder if she divvied that million up with the real soldiers that risked their life and limb rescuing her useless ass.

Like many Conservatives I like allot about President Bush especially his stance on terror and lowering taxes but there is ?allot? to dislike. Not securing our southern border is ?allot?. I great leader like Ronald Reagan or George Washington needs to be able to inspire us. This is best accomplished by some one who can articulate his message. George Bush can only inspire people who like him. President Reagan inspired every body except Leftist freaks. I know that Fred Thompson is the man that will pull this country together. Watch this video and see why

    Un-SAT Educrat

I heard a report the other day slamming the new S.A.T. One educator from a primarily black college was especially concerned because the new test was heavily weighted toward writing. He said it wasn’t fair to the poor folk; his theory being that economically challenged people perform poorly because they are poor. To this I say, “poppycock!” I believe that idea is putting the cart before the horse. In reality, the fact of the matter is people are poor because they perform poorly.

The SAT, ACT, and other tests are by nature designed to separate the wheat from the chaff. This is a good thing. It’s a waste of time and money to send a moron to college. You can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear. There are a multitude of undeniable truths in life ” one of them happens to be that there are dumb folk and there are smart folk. The only thing subjective about this truism is who’s what. The answer is relative to where you fall in the bell curve.

To illustrate how silly it is to ignore the importance of these scores, let’s imagine how ridiculous it would be to attempt to train a low-scorer to be a heart surgeon or to hire a high scorer as a tollbooth attendant or a Wal-Mart greeter. (No offense, Grandpa.)

You have to keep a few things in mind as you listen to the Educrats. They need enrollment in order to justify their position. Indeed, they have their position because their institution has enrollment. I’d bet ya, if universities had to refund all fees and tuition to the student if they washed out, they would be more selective with whom they admitted in the first place. But alas, the university doesn’t care just as long as admissions are high. And don’t get me started talking about how they whore out their academic integrity in their omnipresent quest to field that moneymaking ball team.

    ~ End ~

    Liberalism: “The Anti-Logic”

Have you ever wanted to know what a liberal was thinking? Here’s a trick: just think of a well thought out, righteous decision and then reverse it. On every issue, you can imagine liberals are just wrong. It is analogous to trying to put out a fire with gasoline. Here are a few examples:

Liberals believe that killing the unborn fetus for convenience is a brilliant idea, but cringe at the thought of executing an axe murderer with innocent victims under his belt.

When a school district performs poorly concerning drop out rate and standardized test scores, liberals think spending more money is the answer. But in every case throughout the nation, the more money spent per pupil, the lower the test results. (i.e. Salt Lake City v Washington DC) Liberals refuse to accept the fact that the ability to educate a child and said child’s academic performance level depends solely on intelligence and home environment ” not money.

If the murder rate goes up, their solution is to stop law-abiding citizens from exercising their right to keep and bear arms. However, studies show that the crime rate is highest in every locale that has instituted gun bans and everywhere citizens are allowed to carry concealed weapons crime rates take a nosedive.

If someone is with out a job, the Liberal answer is to give that lazy S.O.B. free money. Where do they get the money to dole out? You guessed it, from the industrious, hardworking American that works for a living; thusly punishing the producer and rewarding the slacker.

If by chance a group of terrorist crashes planes in to several buildings killing thousands, a liberal will say that they are gallant freedom fighters and the people in the buildings deserved to die anyway (enter Bill Maher and Ward Churchill)

We may never be able to understand what causes this illogical thought process that the liberals possess or what it was in their childhood that caused them to be liberal. But hopefully, if we can understand the disease, then we can start working on a cure.

    Dear Dad,

The following is a letter home from a Marine in Iraq. Dear Dad, Just came out of the city and I honestly do not know where to start. I am afraid that whatever I send you will not do sufficient honor to the men who fought and took Fallujah. Shortly before the attack, Task Force Fallujah was built. It consisted of Regimental Combat Team 1 built around 1st Marine Regiment and Regimental Combat Team 7 built around 7th Marine Regiment. Each Regiment consisted of two Marine Rifle Battalions reinforced and one Army mechanized infantry battalion. Regimental Combat Team 1 (RCT-1) consisted of 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion (3rd LAR), 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines (3/5); 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines (3/1)and 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry (2/7). RCT-7 was slightly less weighted but still a formidable force. Cutting a swath around the city was an Army Brigade known as Blackjack. The Marine RCT’s were to assault the city while Blackjack kept the enemy off of the backs of the assault force. The night prior to the actual invasion, we all moved out into the desert just north of the city. It was something to see. You could just feel the intensity in the Marines and Soldiers. It was all business. As the day cleared, the Task Force began striking targets and moving into final attack positions. As the invasion force commenced its movement into attack positions, 3rd LAR led off RCT-1’s offensive with an attack up a peninsula formed by the Euphrates River on the west side of the city. Their mission was to secure the Fallujah Hospital and the two bridges leading out of the city. They executed there tasks like clockwork and smashed the enemy resistance holding the bridges. Simultaneous to all of this, Blackjack sealed the escape routes to the south of the city. As invasion day dawned, the net was around the city and the Marines and Soldiers knew that the enemy that failed to escape was now sealed.

3/5 began the actual attack on the city by taking an apartment complex on the northwest corner of the city. It was key terrain as the elevated positions allowed the command to look down into the attack lanes. The Marines took the apartments quickly and moved to the rooftops and began engaging enemy that were trying to move into their fighting positions. The scene on the rooftop was surreal. Machine gun teams were running boxes of ammo up 8 flights of stairs in full body armor and carrying up machine guns while snipers engaged enemy shooters. The whole time the enemy was firing mortars and rockets at the apartments. Honest to God, I don’t think I saw a single Marine even distracted by the enemy fire. Their squad leaders, and platoon commanders had them prepared and they were executing their assigned tasks. As mentioned, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry joined the Regiment just prior to the fight. In fact, they started showing up for planning a couple of weeks in advance. There is always a professional rivalry between the Army and the Marine Corps but it was obvious from the outset that these guys were the real deal. They had fought in Najaf and were eager to fight with the Regiment in Fallujah. They are exceptionally well led and supremely confident. 2/7 became our wedge. In short, they worked with 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines. We were limited in the amount of prep fires that we were allowed to fire on the city prior to the invasion. This was a point of some consternation to the forces actually taking the city. Our compensation was to turn to 2/7 and ask them to slash into the city and create as much turbulence as possible for 3/1 to follow. Because of the political reality, the Marine Corps was also under pressure to “get it done quickly.” For this reason, 2/7 and 3/1 became the penetration force into the city. Immediately following 3/5’s attack on the apartment buildings, 3/1 took the train station on the north end of the city. While the engineers blew a breach through the train trestle, the Cavalry soldiers poured through with their tanks and Bradley’s and chewed an opening in the enemy defense. 3/1 followed them through until they reached a phase line deep into the northern half of the city. The Marine infantry along with a few tanks then turned to the right and attacked the heart of the enemy defense. The fighting was tough as the enemy had the area dialed in with mortars. 3/5 then attacked into the northwest corner of the city. This fight continued as both Marine rifle battalions clawed their way into the city on different axis.

There is an image burned into my brain that I hope I never forget. We came up behind 3/5 one day as the lead squads were working down the Byzantine streets of the Jolan area. An assault team of two Marines ran out from behind cover and put a rocket into a wall of an enemy strongpoint. Before the smoke cleared the squad behind them was up and moving through the hole and clearing the house. Just down the block another squad was doing the same thing. The house was cleared quickly and the Marines were running down the street to the next contact. Even in the midst of that mayhem, it was an awesome sight. The fighting has been incredibly close inside the city. The enemy is willing to die and is literally waiting until they see the whites of the eyes of the Marines before they open up. Just two days ago, as a firefight raged in close quarters, one of the interpreters yelled for the enemy in the house to surrender. The enemy yelled back that it was better to die and go to heaven than to surrender to infidels. This exchange is a graphic window into the world that the Marines and Soldiers have been fighting in these last 10 days. I could go on and on about how the city was taken but one of the most amazing aspects to the fighting was that we saw virtually no civilians during the battle. Only after the fighting had passed did a few come out of their homes. They were provided food and water and most were evacuated out of the city. At least 90-95% of the people were gone from the city when we attacked. I will end with a couple of stories of individual heroism that you may not have heard yet. I was told about both of these incidents shortly after they occurred. No doubt some of the facts will change slightly but I am confident that the meat is correct. The first is a Marine from 3/5. His name is Corporal Yeager (Chuck Yeager’s grandson). As the Marines cleared and apartment building, they got to the top floor and the point man kicked in the door. As he did so, an enemy grenade and a burst of gunfire came out. The explosion and en! emy fire took

off the point man’s leg. He was then immediately shot in the arm as he lay in the doorway. Corporal Yeager tossed a grenade in the room and ran into the doorway and into the enemy fire in order to pull his buddy back to cover. As he was dragging the wounded Marine to cover, his own grenade came back through the doorway. Without pausing, he reached down and threw the grenade back through the door while he heaved his buddy to safety. The grenade went off inside the room and Cpl Yeager threw another in. He immediately entered the room following the second explosion. He gunned down three enemy all within three feet of where he stood and then let fly a third grenade as he backed out of the room to complete the evacuation of the wounded Marine. You have to understand that a grenade goes off within 5 seconds of having the pin pulled. Marines usually let them “cook off” for a second or two before tossing them in. Therefore, this entire episode took place in less than 30 seconds. The second example comes from 3/1. Cpl Mitchell is a squad leader. He was wounded as his squad was clearing a house when some enemy threw pineapple grenades down on top of them. As he was getting triaged, the doctor told him that he had been shot through the arm. Cpl Mitchell told the doctor that he had actually been shot “a couple of days ago” and had given himself self aide on the wound. When the doctor got on him about not coming off the line, he firmly told the doctor that he was a squad leader and did not have time to get treated as his men were still fighting. There are a number of Marines who have been wounded multiple times but refuse to leave their fellow Marines. It is incredibly humbling to walk among such men. They fought as hard as any Marines in history and deserve to be remembered as such. The enemy they fought burrowed into houses and fired through mouse holes cut in walls, lured them into houses rigged with explosives and detonated the houses on pursuing Marines, and actually hid behind surrender flags only to engage the Marines with small arms fire once they perceived that the Marines had let their guard down. I know of several instances where near dead enemy rolled grenades out on Marines who were preparing to render them aid. It was a fight to the finish in every sense and the Marines delivered. I have called the enemy cowards many times in the past because they have never really held their ground and fought but these guys in the city did. We can call them many things but they were not cowards.

    Our Great Nation

I am constantly hearing the phrase “Divided Country”. I submit to you that our great country is not divided. News reporters and the pundits constantly ask the person that they are interviewing questions along the lines of: Can President Bush bring our divided nation together? Or: Why has President Bush divided the country? It is my opinion that the President is not the cause of the perceived division, but his political opponents who in their continuous quest for power will say or do anything to give the perception of fragmentation. It is your standard ‘divide and conquer’ tactic. When you gaze upon the electoral map, you will notice that the nation is a cohesive body. (You might note that, excluding Alaska, all of the Bush states are contiguous.)

There are organizations that actively work for the destruction of America, as we know it. Namely, they are: The Socialist Party, The Communist Party, George Soros, Michael Moore, The United Nations, and other Islamo-Fascist groups. They all support John Kerry. Let’s not forget, all the anti-American actors, singers, and artist types that would revel in a liberal president governing our country. Please keep in mind that these folks are just a bunch of over-paid carnies. I suspect the entertainers are so liberal because they are so out of touch with reality. Therefore, the next time you hear that our nation is divided, just remember you are hearing the regurgitations of an overtly liberal news media trying to reinforce our enemy’s doctrine.

    Letter From a Fallujah Marine:

It was reported by an imbedded dead weight reporter from NBC Monday, November 15, 2004 that a Marine assisted a terrorist in his quest for 72 vestal virgins. I say, “Good job Jarhead!” I understand that just before the Marines entered the Mosque where the terrorists were illegally fighting in civilian dress and illegally using a sacred Mosque as a firing position, they had experienced these terrorists feigning death and then shooting Marines. This is also against the laws of land warfare. We will probably hear all the libs crying in their soup about how awful and brutish the Marine Corps is. This is exactly how we want our Marines to act and most decidedly, there is no place in combat for weakness. With the exception of “Toys for Tots” and having a great band, the Marine Corps is equipped and trained for two things: to break things and to kill people. They have been doing this with superb military precision since November 10, 1775. The Marine rifleman’s primary mission is: “To seek out, close with and destroy the enemy by superior fire power and maneuver.” The Marine under investigation had just returned to duty as he had been shot in the face the previous day.
Before you condemn this hard chargin’ devil dog for being a tad over aggressive, you may want to weigh all the facts including:

These are terrorist and do not qualify as legal enemy combatants.
These swine routinely wave white flags and hide behind women and children.
They shoot from behind the protection of mosques, schools and hospitals.
Often under the guise of surrender, these cold-hearted killers kill the guy taking them in to custody.
They routinely take hostages and saw off their heads
It is common for Marines in combat to go 3 and 4 days with out sleep.

So to make a short story shorter I’ll just tell you this, If I ever see that Marine in an airport, I’ll buy him an Old Milwaukee, because it don’t get any better than this.

This is one story of many that people normally don’t hear, and one that everyone does. This is one most don’t hear: A young Marine and his cover man cautiously enter a room just recently filled with insurgents armed with AK-47’s and RPG’s. There are three dead, another wailing in pain. The insurgent can be heard saying, “Mister, mister! Diktoor, diktoor (doctor)!” He is badly wounded, lying in a pool of his own blood. The Marine and his cover man slowly walk toward the injured man, scanning to make sure no enemies come from behind. In a split second, the pressure in the room greatly exceeds that of the outside, and the concussion seems to be felt before the blast is heard. Marines outside rush to the room, and look in horror as the dust gradually settles. The result is a room filled with the barely recognizable remains of the deceased, caused by an insurgent setting off several pounds of explosives. The Marines’ remains are gathered by teary-eyed comrades, brothers in arms, and shipped home in a box. The families can only mourn over a casket and a picture of their loved one, a life cut short by someone who hid behind a white flag. But no one hears these stories, except those who have lived to carry remains of a friend, and the families who loved the dead. No one hears this, so no one cares.

This is the story everyone hears:
A young Marine and his fire team cautiously enter a room just recently filled with insurgents armed with AK-47’s and RPG’s. There are three dead, another wailing in pain. The insurgent can be heard saying, “Mister, mister! Diktoor, diktoor (doctor)!” He is badly wounded. Suddenly, he pulls from under his bloody clothes a grenade, without the pin. The explosion rocks the room, killing one Marine, wounding the others. The young Marine catches shrapnel in the face. The next day, same Marine, same type of situation, a different story. The young Marine and his cover man enter a room with two wounded insurgents. One lies on the floor in a puddle of blood, another against the wall. A reporter and his camera survey the wreckage inside, and in the background can be heard the voice of a Marine, “He’s moving, he’s moving!” The pop of a rifle is heard, and the insurgent against the wall is now dead. Minutes, hours later, the scene is aired on national television, and the Marine is being held for committing a war crime. Unlawful killing. And now, another Marine has the possibility of being burned at the stake for protecting the life of his brethren. His family now wrings their hands in grief, tears streaming down their face. Brother, should I have been in your boots, I too would have done the same. For those of you who don’t know, we Marines, Band of Brothers, Jarheads, Leathernecks, etc., do not fight because we think it is right, or think it is wrong. We are here for the man to our left, and the man to our right. We choose to give our lives so that the man or woman next to us can go home and see their husbands, wives, children, friends and families. For those of you who sit on your couches in front of your television, and choose to condemn this man’s actions, I have but one thing to say to you. Get out of your recliner, lace up my boots, pick up a rifle, leave your family behind and join me. See what I’ve seen, walk where I have walked. To those of you who support us, my sincerest gratitude. You keep us alive. I am a Marine currently doing his second tour in Iraq. These are my opinions and mine alone. They do not represent those of the Marine Corps or of the US military, or any other.

    Don’t Mess with America

The American experience began before 1776. It was in 1620 that Pilgrims came from not so merry old England in search of a better life. In the new world, one could exercise religious freedom and gain economic self-sufficiency. Soon to follow in the exodus, were the Dutch, French, Scots, Irish, and any other oppressed European that could muster the funds or indenture them selves in trade for passage. Since our founding fathers risked their fortunes and sacred honor to form this greatest of nations, we have been the most sought after permanent vacation spot. Let’s look at why:

  • Economic Freedom
  • Religious Freedom
  • Freedom from Government Oppression
  • Freedom to Keep and Bear Arms
  • Freedom of Speech and Thought
  • Freedom of the Press
  • The right to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures
After a few centuries of becoming complacent and pseudo-intellectualizing, there has grown in our midst a cadre of non-thinking folks that seem to want to deprive Americans of the very substance that makes our union great. I guess they will never get it. You see, you might have a chance to talk with one of these liberals, but they will most likely never understand the reason America is great. Since the election, I have listened to the DNC talking heads (this includes the elite media) and they are flummoxed as to why so many voters stood up for the aforementioned list and voted for President Bush. I think the reasons for John Kerry’s failure were a combination of the shortcomings of liberalism in general. Liberal dogma spits in the face of most of the ideals productive Americans know and the same ideals that make America ultimately superior compared to other countries.

    Economic Freedom:
Liberals believe you should give your wealth to the government for a more equal distribution.
    Religious Freedom:
Though most Libs will not admit that they have disdain for religion, they look upon Christians as circus freaks. You may remember many Libs wanting to ban the movie “The Passion of the Christ”
    Freedom from government oppression:
The Democrats want government to tell you how to raise your kids, whom to hire, what to eat, and where to smoke.
Freedom to keep and bear arms:
They seem to only want criminals to be armed because they cant grasp the concept of self-defense and why it is so necessary.
    Freedom of speech and thought:
There is not enough room here to list all the words, books, and movies that the Liberals have attempted to, if not successfully, ban.
    Freedom of the press:
There is no freedom of the press if it is monopolized by an ideological few driven by a Marxist agenda.
The right to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures:
The liberals have no misgivings with seizing at least half, if not more, of the fruits of your hard earned labor

    IN DEFENSE OF AMERICA’S GRADES

The Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) released a study in which they tested students of several countries and attempted to show a correlation between monies spent per pupil and subsequent ranking. Let us be cautious on the assumptions made based on this data. In order to view this data realistically, it should be divided into two separate issues:

Spending and its relation to results
    Disparities from country to country
Part I. There is no relationship between dollars spent and test scores. If I charge you one cent to teach your child that 2 + 2 = 4, he will know that knowledge as surely as he would if I charged you twenty dollars for the same lesson. In the same year that Washington D.C. spent $8,393 dollars per student, Utah spent less than half that amount — $3,969. If money spent translated to success, you would expect D.C. to out-perform Utah at every level. But the truth is Utah scored near the top in all standardized tests and D.C. scored dead last. The discrepancy in funds allocated towards education in this example most likely can be attributed to a top-heavy administration.

Part II. To better understand why disparity exists from country to country, I will attempt to draw a simple analogy. Let’s say you have a gallon of white paint, add two ounces of navy blue paint, and stir. You should now have a little over one gallon of baby blue paint. This mixture is an average of the constituent colors. The United States is much like a big paint can; it is filled with colors of all countries. Since the U.S. is an amalgamation, it is an average of all it various constituents. No matter how you slice it, when looking at any national statistic from education level to mortality, crime, and unwed birth rates, you will find that our great country will be reflect a weighted average of the various cultures from which it is created.
